Look, crash games are essentially all the same. They all use some sort of 2D animations that feature rockets, planes, or even just chart lines. But things don’t need to be as boring all the time. And Goblin Run by EvoPlay is living proof!

Character customization, 3D gameplay, five levels, and many more things are usually used to describe RPG PC games, but nope, that’s everything you’ll find in this innovative crash game.

Before we get into the game, it’s only fair we reveal a few more details on how we conduct these game reviews without letting our biases influence our final ratings. To do that, the Crash Gambler team developed a religious review process that we follow.

We follow the game review process closely, so you get the best possible experience

Desktop Gaming Experience

Yeah, we know the majority of you are going to play this game on mobile, and that’s fine, but we’re old-fashioned, and we like our big desktop screens!

In the image below, we just entered the space-like level, but there are several levels that feature different settings. There’s a dungeon level, an island-themed level, a snow setting, and more. Each round is different, and the more players that play, the more goblins are running in front of the chasing dragon.

goblin run desktop version

Just joking, we’re going to get to the mobile gaming experience in a second, but until we do, we have some good news to share!

Despite the 3D graphics, we believe no desktop PC or Mac should have any problems running this game without any hiccups. We did, however, find that a strong Wifi or cable internet connection was needed to keep that level of gameplay smoothness.

To make sure everyone would be able to enjoy this game, even on a weaker internet connection, we would like to see an option to bring down the quality of graphics. Blast by Bitsler is also a 3D crash game, and they do have that feature. EvoPlay, take notes!

Mobile Gaming Experience

We’re happy to see all the amazing graphics from the desktop version of the game are present on the mobile version of the game!

Betting interface buttons could be bigger on mobile.

During our testing period, we did notice that our old iPhone 6S struggled more to run the game smoothly than our more modern smartphones. And there’s also no doubt that you will need a solid WiFi or 5G internet connection to keep this game running without any hiccups.

We also did not like the fact that some of the betting interface buttons on the mobile version of the game felt a bit too small to press comfortably. Even if you close one of the two betting interfaces, the interface that is left does not resize.

Gameplay Options

It’s one thing to play the game and another—to actually review it. That’s why, we’ll shed some light on what you can (and cannot) expect from Goblin Run.

Manual Mode

Enough playing around, let’s get playing! We’ll kick things off in manual mode so we get more control over the gameplay and allow ourselves to get used to the pace of the game.

goblin run manual mode
There are 10 seconds between each round of Goblin Run, which makes this game pretty slow-paced.

Goblin Run makes manual mode really simple, there’s no auto-cashout safety triggers or anything of the sort. You only need to decide on a bet amount and click the big green “Bet on the next round” button. That’s it, you’ll need to cash out manually as well!

This allows you to get creative with your betting strategy. You can place two manual bets, two automated bets or even one manual and one automated bet.

For now, let’s place a single manual bet and see how we do! We’re going to bet $10 and cash out manually at 1,5X!

manual betting goblin run test
You can cash out at any given moment. There are absolutely no delays!

As you can see, our goblin dressed in a goose costume ran fiercely in front of the chasing dragon, and we managed to cash out at 1,5X before he managed to catch up with us!

We recommend you place at least 20 manual bets before you try out the automated betting options. If you dare to place 2 manual bets at the same time, be careful because it can get pretty hectic when cashing out manually.

Auto Mode

Hey, we know everything was super exciting until now, but we have to open up this part of our review with a slight disappointment. If betting automation is what you want, then this is certainly not the game for you.

Goblin Run offers the bare basics of crash game betting automation. Here’s what you can do:

  • Decide on a bet amount
  • You can set an auto-cashout multiplier
  • You can place bets automatically for a desired amount of rounds

That is it. We don’t like that the lowest amount of games you can automate is 10. Compared to games like Crash by BC Originals, you’ll also not be able to automate any of the advanced crash gambling strategies.

On the other hand, the fact that you have two betting interfaces allows you to get creative to a certain degree.

For the sake of this review, we’ll place two automated bets, one with a higher bet amount and a low cash out multiplier and the other with a low bet amount and a high cash out multiplier.

Bet 1: $20 and cash out multiplier at 1,3X

Bet 2: $2 and cash out multiplier at 15X

With this strategy, we’ll secure a nice profit early on without too much risk, and we’ll let the second bet bring us even more profit. Hopefully, we win both bets!

Keeping track of two betting interfaces can be tough, be careful!

Hooray! We won our first bet with a profit of $6 and lost the second, $2 bet, which means we still secured a profit of $4!

There you have it, Goblin Run is definitely not the most advanced crash game in terms of betting automation, but it sure is fun to play!

Even though we have already uncovered numerous features of the game, like character customization, we still have plenty of work! We’ll kick things off with the most prominent one, provable fairness.

Provable Fairness

Having the ability to check the fairness of the game is always a big plus in our eyes, and we’re happy to see Goblin Run being provably fair.

To check the fairness of this game, you’ll first need a SHA256 cryptographic encryption tool, we like to use this one.

To check the fairness of a particular round, you’ll first need to click on the “burger” menu button in the bottom left corner of the game. Once you’re there, go to the history tab and click the information button next to the round you’re interested in. This will open up a new window with all the information about the round.

Once you’re there, click the copy button next to the “Validation” row of the table.

The user experience of this process could definitely be improved.

This will copy the game’s salt value and the end multiplier. Both combined are used to generate the game’s hash. Now that you have that copied, head back to the SHA256 encryption tool we provided before and paste it in.

In our case, the final result was 9.67X and the salt value was |Df6fWuKP)yZu=_b. The combined value is therefore 9.67|Df6fWuKP)yZu=_b.

We can then compare this value with the one provided by the game, and if they match, the game is 100% fair!

You can read the theory behind this game’s provably fair algorithm in the rules section of the in-game menu.

Player’s Chat Room

To make sure you’re not as socially isolated as we were during Covid, Goblin Run features a fun player’s chat room so you can brag, annoy, and talk to other players! The image below shows you where you can find it!

Player’s Leaderboard

If you’re curious how other players are doing, there’s a player’s leaderboard that can help you spy on others! You can also see all your bets there and the top bets and wins of all time!

The arrows in the image below point out where you engage the player’s leaderboard.

Fullscreen Mode

If you play this game in the default window, you’ll feel as though some buttons and texts are a bit small. And we figured out why that is. If you click on the menu button in the bottom left corner of the game, you’ll see a menu pop-up that features a fullscreen option.

By clicking on the fullscreen button, you’ll be able to fully immerse yourself into the gameplay with your entire screen. This makes all the text and buttons in the game significantly larger and the gameplay even more fun!

If you’re playing on desktop, we definitely recommend you do it in fullscreen mode!

If you’ve read this review carefully, then you probably already know our pros and cons for this game, but in any case, it’s always beneficial to put them in a list form. Here’s what we love about Goblin Run and some things that we feel could be improved!

We love the fact that…

✅ Goblin Run features amazing 3D RPG gameplay and graphics!
✅ The game performs great both on mobile and desktop devices.
✅ There are 5 different stages in the game, it’s not the same setting over and over again.
✅ You can customize your goblin character and see the result of that in-game.
✅ Goblin Run is a provably fair crash game.
✅ You can play the game in fullscreen mode.
✅ There are two betting interfaces.

But there’s always space for improvement.

❌ The 96% RTP could be better.
❌ Some buttons could be bigger, especially on mobile devices.
❌ The game could feature an option to downscale the graphics.
❌ There could be more betting automation features.
❌ Checking the fairness could be easier with in-game tools.

If you’re sick and tired of the same old crash games, then you’ll love Goblin Run by Evo Play in a matter of minutes. Despite some cons and a lower RTP percentage, this game still feels like a breath of fresh air in the crash gambling world.

If you haven’t tried it yet, we recommend you do it as soon as possible. Head to one of our recommended casinos that feature this game and start running!

Before you go, remember to gamble responsibly and, most importantly, have loads of fun! We’ll see you in front of the dragon!
